HOW WE WORK

The Friends of the Bustamante Hospital (FBHC) is a not-for-profit organization whose history begins with the formation of the Bustamante Hospital for Children in 1963. Established in the same year as the Hospital, this group was originally composed of volunteers who served the Hospital through their donations of time, service, cash or kind. Over the past 55 years, the Friends have assisted the Hospital in large and small ways through fund raising for Capital Projects, sourcing consumables and incidentals, and morale building for staff and patients.

Our activities assist Patients and Staff of the Hospital by working to improve amenities and infrastructure, organizing treats for the Patients and providing a conduit to facilitate direct donations to the Hospital.

OUR IMPACT

The FBHC have had significant impact on the Hospital over the past 55years:

  • Construction of the first intensive care unit

  • Purchase and installation of a standby generator

  • Re-roofing of various areas of the Hospital after hurricane Gilbert

  • Refurbishing and outfitting of a Nurses Lounge
